Mogadishu, Somalia – March 8, 2025:- The Somali Women Peace and Security Centre (SWPSC) successfully organized a special ceremony to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, celebrating the achievements and resilience of Somali women across all walks of life.

The event was officially opened by the Executive Director of SWPSC, Ms. Hamdi Hassan, who warmly welcomed guests, including Ministers, Federal and State Members of Parliament, Ambassadors, government officials, and representatives from civil society and community organizations.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Hamdi highlighted the significance of honoring this day, noting that International Women’s Day is a moment to recognize the strength, contributions, and continued struggles of women in Somalia and around the world. She extended heartfelt congratulations to all Somali women for their role in shaping families, communities, and the nation.

The event provided a platform for reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to advancing women’s rights, gender equality, and inclusive development in Somalia.
